Abstract

The article is proposed as a case to reflect on the process of urban renewal, considered as a motor for social and economic regeneration of post-industrial settlements of the XXI century. The considerations are driven through the exploration of the Progetto Integrato di Sviluppo Urbano (Integrated Project for Urban Development), an experience led during the last years in a medium-scale city, Alessandria. The purpose of the contribution is to evaluate the architectural project as a the main instrument to mend the networks of relationships between citizens and the historic city.
