Abstract

The form of the effective color-dielectric lagrangian in SU(3) color is discussed from a phenomenological point of view. After averaging over gluon configurations, we obtain a colordielectric field χ with spin zero and a bleached (= color neutral) massive “gluon” field θ μ with spin one. We solve the resulting mean field equations for the three-, six-quark and quark-antiquark systems as well as quark matter.
