Abstract

TG-129 recommended that clinics pursue heterogeneity calculations for eye plaques. In previous work we have shown that the TG43 methodology may be used by fitting the Monte Carlo data to a Dome Geometry function; however most TPS can only perform calculations using a Point or a Line geometry function and do not have the dome geometry function as an available option. Typically the radial dose function and anisotropy functions used in these calculations are those in the TG-43 reports which take into account the heterogeneity of the seed construction but not the eye plaque applicator components such as the Scilastic insert and the Modulay shielding.
