Abstract
The author discusses general problems of superstring - inspired models. These include some results on compactification, first problems for model building, and problems with supersymmetry breaking. A minimal model is described. This description focuses on generalities of the model, radiative breaking of the gauge symmetry, the particle spectrum, Gauginos and Higgs particles, and exotic color triplets (D-particles).
