Abstract
Two new diterpenoids nimbionone and nimbionol have been isolated from the acidic fraction of the bark of Azadirachta indica (neem) and their structures determined as 12-hydroxy-13-methoxypodocarpa-8,11,13-trien-3,7-dione and 3,12-dihydroxy-13-methoxypodocarpa-8,11,13-trien-7-one, respectively, through chemical and spectral studies. The mother fraction of 1 and 2 showed significant antibacterial activity.
