Abstract
Abstract Invasive gastropods are among the most damaging pests of agriculture and horticulture in North America, with many species feeding directly on and reducing the yield and quality ratings of a wide range of crops. This chapter focuses on the importance of invasive gastropods in North America; the common tactics used for their management and the search for and discovery of Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita in North America, which could be an effective, efficient and safe alternative; the discovery of multiple Phasmarhabditis species in California and species diagnostics using morphometrics and molecular barcoding genes; and the implications, future priorities and prospects for establishing the biological control potential of other Phasmarhabditis species.
