Abstract

Previous Monte Carlo studies of SU(4) and SU(5) lattice gauge theory are extended to pure SU(6) gauge fields in four space-time dimensions. Using Wilson's form of the action, a first-order phase transition is clearly seen at ${\ensuremath{\beta}}_{c}=\frac{12}{{{g}_{0}}^{2}}=24.0\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.0$ on a ${4}^{4}$ lattice.
