Abstract

In high intensity electric discharge in air at atmospheric pressure between parallel plates, during their mutual distance gradually decreasing, there was a plasma compression going on by recombination pressure of decaying peripheral zone of plasma. When the distance between the electrodes was small, there was observed a decrease of pressure and an increase of the cohesive forces in central plasma of the discharge, this being interpreted as a phase transition in plasma —its condensation.
