Abstract

The Ni nanowires containing hcp nickel phase have been fabricated. With heat treatment, the phase transition is found for the first time in Ni nanowires. The phase transition of hcp to fcc brings an improved (220) preferred orientation to the Ni nanowire arrays. In magnetic property measurement, the coercivity of the phase-transited arrays decreases, while the squareness stays unchanged. The mechanism of the magnetic property change is also studied.
