Abstract

AbstractThe new organic‐inorganic hybrid material [NH3(CH2)5NH3][InCl5(H2O)] ⋅ H2O (1) was successfully synthesized and the reversible phase transition with Curie temperature of 239.2 K was determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurement. Moreover, the variable‐temperature single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analyses demonstrate that the title compound crystallizes in the Pnma at 280 K. As the temperature drops below Tc, the space group of 1 transforms to the P21/n. Structural analyses reveal that the disorder‐order transformation of the organic [NH3(CH2)5NH3]2+ cation accounts for the phase transition of compound 1. And the dielectric property shows an anomaly near Tc as well. These findings will promote the exploration and construction of the indium(III) based phase transition materials.
