Abstract

The automotive industry is a major user of sheet steels in manufacturing current automotive structure components. The demands on weight reduction and safety drive steel makers to develop new sheet steel grades with increasing strength and elongation, and the next generation of sheet steels to fulfil this role is known as 3rd Generation Advanced High Strength Steels (AHSS). This PhD thesis focuses on the study of two coupled metallurgical problems during the processing of 3rd Generation AHSS.
