Abstract

In this work, 16mol% CeO2–4mol% YbO1.5 co-stabilized ZrO2 (16Ce4YbSZ) coating was prepared by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). The phase structure, high temperature phase stability, thermal physical properties, thermal cycling properties and CMAS corrosion resistance of 16Ce4YbSZ coating were studied in this work. The results showed that after heat treatment at 1400 ℃ for 100h, a small amount of t phase of the16Ce4YbSZ coating was transformed into c phase, but no m phase was produced, indicating that the16Ce4YbSZ coating has good phase stability. The thermal conductivity of the 16Ce4YbSZ coating ranged from 0.81W/(m·K) to 0.88W/(m·K), which was lower than that of the ZrO2 coating stabilized by 7.6wt% Y2O3 (YSZ, 1~1.1W/(m·K)). The thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of the16Ce4YbSZ coating was from 10.26 to 11.69×10−6 K−1, which was slightly higher than that of YSZ coating ((9.28-11.11)×10−6 K−1). Compared with 16Ce4YbSZ TBC, 16Ce4YbSZ/YSZ TBC had better thermal shock resistance due to the buffering effect of the YSZ layer. In the CMAS corrosion, 16Ce4YbSZ coating exhibited excellent resistance to CMAS corrosion.
