Abstract

The model of the circular restricted problem of three bodies is used to investigate the sensitivity of a third body motion when it is given a state space deviation away from the Sun-Jupiter L 4 triangular libration point. A high fidelity boundary envelope is constructed using the maximum state space parameters that permit stable librational motion. The line of syzygies (x-axis) is used as a criteria for defining the stability of the third body motion. Poincaré's surface of sections are used to compare the regions of stable motion to the trajectories whose initial state space parameters are bounded by the high fidelity boundary envelope.
