Abstract

Observations have been made on thermal convection below 1 K in a dilute solution of 3He in superfluid 4He contained in a cylindrical cell of aspect ratio Γ=1.20. Complicated oscillatory phenomena were observed with a high degree of reproducibility using two temperature sensors. Phase space analysis suggests a description in terms of strange attractor dynamics.
