Abstract
Power grid parameters depend on its topology, generators and loads. In general, they are time dependent. The main goal for phase shifter applications is power grid operation modes control. The changes of power grid parameters are influence on control characteristics of phase shifter. The paper presents the approach for adaptation of phase shifter's control characteristics to actual power grid parameters. Actual power grid parameters are calculated in phase shifter's control system based on experimental data about transmission line operation mode at the place of its installation. Phase shifter's control characteristic is calculated based on its and two-machine transmission line models. Special phase shifter regime for testing and obtaining information about transmission line parameters as well as formulas for two-machine transmission line and phase shifter's models parameters calculation are presented and discussed. The paper presents 39-bus IEEE power grid model in PSCAD environment with phase shifter installed in one of the transmission lines. The analysis influences of changes in IEEE model's topology on phase shifter's control characteristic is presented.
