Abstract

Photoluminescence studies of films of polyaniline and also of the phenyl/phenyl end-capped tetramer of aniline in their non-protonated emeraldine and leucoemeraldine oxidation states strongly suggest that films of polyaniline (emeraldine base) may be phase segregated as expected for a block copolymer. This accounts for the lower then expected conductivity of doped polyaniline.
