Abstract

Liquid crystals are rod shaped molecules possess properties of conventional liquids and solid crystals. Optical shuttering action can be derived either by thermal pulse or by an external electric impulse. These materials can also be utilized as novel memory devices. Dielectric hysteresis is the unique mechanism of demonstrating the memory effect. Optical and electrical memories can be revealed from these mesogens, in optical memory, variation of texture pattern evolves the effect.
