Abstract

For simple and robust cell search in a synchronous OFDM cellular system, considered is the coherent cell search algorithm where a cell-specific secondary synchronisation channel is coherently detected by using the channel response estimated from the primary synchronisation channel (P-SCH). Owing the limited number of P-SCH sequences, the channel response estimated from P-SCH does not match the channel response of the target cell, which will degrade the coherent cell search performance. To solve such a problem, proposed is a new phase rotation based synchronisation channel structure. It is shown by neighbour cell search simulations that the proposed technique significantly improves the coherent cell search performance.
