Abstract

Abstract The isothermal section of the phase diagram of the Zr–Ni–Sb ternary system at 870 K in the whole concentration range has been constructed by means of X-ray and metallographic analyses. Eight ternary intermetallic compounds Zr 6 NiSb 2 (Zr 6 CoAl 2 -type), Zr 5 Ni 0.5 Sb 2.5 (W 5 Si 3 -type), Zr 5 Ni 0.9 Sb 3 (Hf 5 CuSn 3 -type), ZrNi 2 Sb (ZrPt 2 Al-type), ZrNiSb (TiNiSi-type), Zr 3 Ni 3 Sb 4 (Y 3 Au 3 Sb 4 -type), Zr 2 Ni 0.7 Sb 3.3 (Zr 2 CuSb 3 -type), and Zr 3 NiSb 7 (own structure type) are formed in this system at 870 K.
