Abstract

In order to determine the isothermal sections of Zn–Nb–Ti ternary phase diagram at 600 and 450 °C, the equilibrated alloy method was adopted by using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The experimental results show that there are seven and ten three-phase regions at the 600 and 450 °C isothermal sections, respectively. Besides, a continuous homogeneous solid solution (Nb,Ti)Zn3 phase was further identified, of which the lattice parameters increase with the increasing of Nb content in these two isothermal sections. Compared with the 450 °C isothermal section, the homogeneity range of (Nb,Ti)Zn3 phase increases slightly at 600 °C. No ternary compounds were detected at both 600 and 450 °C isothermal sections.
