Abstract

The phase relationships in the Al–Zr–La ternary system at 773 K have been investigated for the first time mainly by means of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive analysis (EDX). The existence of the Al 4La 5 and AlLa 2 binary compounds has been confirmed in this ternary system. The isothermal section consists of 18 single-phase regions, 33 two-phase regions and 16 three-phase regions. No ternary compound was observed in this work.
