Abstract
The phase relations within the system Tl 2O 3BaOCaOCuO including Ag has been studied with emphasis on the high temperature superconducting phases TlBa 2Ca 2Cu 3O 8.5 (1223 phase), Tl 2Ba 2Ca 2Cu 3O 10 (2223 phase), TlBa 2CaCu 2O 6.5 (1212 phase), and Tl 2Ba 2CaCu 2O 8 (2212 phase) at 890 °C in oxygen atmosphere. 1223 has been found to be in equilibrium with a liquid phase which is Tl poor.
