Abstract

The phase diagram has been determined using a combination of high temperature powder diffraction and quench furnace equilibration. Na2GeO3 forms a range of solid solutions which covers over half of the diagram at solidus temperatures (900‡ C) but whose extent is much more restricted at lower temperatures. Na2GeO3 solid solutions may undergo a variety of reactions on cooling, which include phase transformation and coherent precipitation.
