Abstract

The phase compatibility diagram of the Ag2Se-CdSe-SnSe-Se region in the Ag-Cd-Sn-Se system at T ≤ 600 K has been constructed using physicochemical characterization techniques and emf measurements. The emf (E) of C | Ag | AgI | Ag2GeS3 glass | D | C electrochemical cells (where C stands for an inert (graphite) electrode; Ag and D denote the electrodes of the cell; D is an equilibrium two-, three-, or four-phase alloy of the Ag-Cd-Sn-Se system; and AgI | Ag2GeS3 glass is a bilayer membrane with purely ionic (Ag+) conductivity) has been measured as a function of temperature in the range 480–580 K. Analytical equations for the E(T) data were used to calculate the standard thermodynamic functions of saturated solid solutions based on the β-Ag2Se, β-Ag8SnSe6, AgSnSe2, Ag2CdSnSe4, CdSnSe3, and SnSe phases of the Ag-Cd-Sn-Se system.
