Abstract

Phase diagram of the pseudo-binary system Bi 2O 3–Cr 2O 3 has been reconstructed based upon X-ray diffraction measurement and differential thermal analysis. Four intermediate phases have been determined in this system: Bi 14CrO 24-based solid solution (β 1, space group I4/ m), Bi 10Cr 2O 21-based high-temperature solid solution (β 2, orthorhombic symmetry), a new compound Bi 2CrO 6 (X, monoclinic symmetry) and the stoichiometric compound Bi 6Cr 2O 15 (η phase, orthorhombic symmetry, space group Ccc2).
