Abstract

The phase equilibria between the liquid and compound phases in the AlInSb system were studied experimentally and thermodynamically. The liquidus isotherms were determined over the entire composition range by differential thermal analysis, and the solidus composition in the AlSbInSb pseudobinary was obtained by electron microprobe analysis. The phase diagram was calculated on the basis of these results together with the thermochemical data reported in the literature. It was found that a three-phase region composed of the AlSbInSb ternary crystal and two molten phases appears in the AlIn-rich region below 750 °C.
