Abstract

In this paper we study the phase diagram of the quantum XY spin model on a body-centered tetragonal lattice, using a self-consistent Green function technique. Competing nearest and next-nearest-neighbor interactions are taken into account. We are mainly interested in the helimagnetic phase. Various physical quantities such as sublattice magnetizations, turn angle, internal energy and specific heat are calculated as functions of temperature. A phase diagram is established. We find a new collinearly ordered state between the helimagnetic and the paramagnetic phases. Monte Carlo simulation of the corresponding classical spin models is also performed for verification. The results confirm the existence of this new phase. We also study the quantum and classical Heisenberg case. Results are shown and discussed.
