Abstract

A novel phase determination approach comparing FWHMs with intensities of rocking curves from the top and bottom surfaces of a polar crystal is proposed. The approach is applied to GaAs ±333 reflections in Bragg mode and the phases are determined with good accuracy. This approach is potentially very useful for determining the phase of a polar crystal, including that for a nearly perfect crystal.
