Abstract

Phase conjugation driven by orthogonal pump waves in birefringent polarization-maintaining fibers is studied analytically and numerically. For typical parameters, the gain bandwidths and polarization sensitivities associated with orthogonal-pump waves are comparable to those associated with parallel-pump waves. However, the maximal gains are significantly lower.
