Abstract

A system of spin-charge separated stack of two-dimensional condensates interacting via the interplane Josephson coupling E⊥J is studied in the only quantum rotor representation as a model of layered high-T c cuprates. Using de Gennes mapping onto S=1 pseudospin model the phase diagram is computed as a function of E⊥J which exhibits an intricate interplay between charge (e) and pair (2e) condensation. Experimental implications of the model pertaining to the condensation energy E c o n d , the behavior of the ratio E⊥ J/E c o n d , and the flux quantization are discussed.
