Abstract
In the anesthetized dog with right-heart bypass the injection of perhexiline was followed by the vasodilatation of the coronary, systemic and pulmonary vascular beds. There was a fall in left ventricular work, index of energy utilization, and myocardial oxygen consumption. The ratio of Δ cardiac output/Δ oxygen consumption was elevated following the administration of perhexiline. All these effects of perhexiline are potentially desirable in the treatment of coronary insufficiency.
