Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases have the highest prevalence in advanced age. Nevertheless, older age groups are frequently underrepresented in randomized controlled trials (RCT). Consequently, in many cases the evidence is often insufficient. Therefore, recommendations from guidelines can only be transferred to this age group to alimited extent. Due to the complexity and vulnerability of geriatric patients, individual considerations in pharmacological therapy are often required. In the following article, the pharmacotherapy of some relevant cardiovascular diseases is discussed from the perspective of ageriatric treatment approach.
