Abstract

Abstract Modaline sulphate (W 3207) has pharmacological effects which probably belong both to the group of monoamine oxidase inhibitors and the imipramine-like drugs. It differs from the monoamine oxidase inhibitors by producing an increase in body temperature in fully reserpinized animals. It differs from imipramine-like drugs in not potentiating the hyperthermic effect of isoprenaline. The effects of modaline are probably related to the formation of a metabolite because they are prevented by the administration of SKF 525 A.
