Abstract

Background and Aims: Oxidative stress plays an important role in the pathophysiology of myocardial infarction (MI). NADPH oxidase (Nox) complex has been implicated in reactive oxygen species (ROS) overproduction in response to myocardial ischemia. The alarmin S100A8/A9 secreted by activated neutrophils promotes inflammation in MI. We aimed to investigate the implication of S100A9-activated signaling pathways in mediating Nox up-regulation and the ensuing oxidative stress in MI.
