Abstract

The pharmacy profession is an outlier in the ranks of health care professionals because they are not considered health care providers under the rules of the Medicare program. Other professions, including physical and occupational therapists and dieticians can be directly reimbursed for their services-but not pharmacists. The author discusses the policy and advocacy work that ASCP has been undertaking on the 1135 waiver.
