Abstract
Abstract Medicinal plants have very important place in health and vitality of human beings. The aim of present study is to evaluate the antioxidant, antimicrobial and antitumour properties of methanolic extract of various parts of Oldenlandia corymbosa. The methanolic extract of both aerial and root of plant showed significant antibacterial activity against the pathogenic organisms Salmonella typhi, Chlostridium botulinum, Klebsiella pneumonia and Vibrio cholerae. Extracts showed excellent antioxidant activity. The IC50 value of aerial part extract is found to be 0.49 ± 0.006 mg/ml and root extract is 0.24 ± 0.005 mg/ml. Methanolic extract of aerial part shows inhibitory activity to human MCF-7 breast cancer cell lines with IC50 value of 0.67 ± 0.18 mg/ml. The present study depicts an overview on chemical constituents and pharmacological importance of the plant.
