Abstract

Objective To investigate the methods and effect of pharmaceutical intervention by clinical pharmacists on irrational drug use in clinic. Methods A total of 2 000 outpatient medical prescription were randomly selected as research objects, with 1 000 medical prescription before pharmaceutical intervention (from Jan. of 2015 to Dec. of 2015) and 1 000 medical prescription after pharmaceutical intervention (from Jan. of 2016 to Dec. of 2016) respectively. Rate of irrational drug use, drug compliance, the incidence of adverse reactions, administration time, drug utilization index and drug costs were compared before and after intervention, and the uses of antibiotics were analyzed particularly. Results Before and after pharmaceutical intervention by clinical pharmacists, the rates of irrational drug use were 29.4% and 2.9% respectively, drug compliance was 78.7% and 90.2%, the incidences of adverse reaction were 33.2% and 23.1% respectively, administration time were (24.17±2.68) d and (20.55±2.04) d, drug utilization indexes were 9.89±2.84 and 5.15±0.86 respectively, drug costs was (1 812±265) yuan and (1 135±184) yuan; in the use of antibiotics, rates of irrational use of drugs were 7.1% and 0.7% respectively, the proportions of bacteria examination before treatment or drug sensitivity test were 20.4% and 45.4% before and after pharmaceutical intervention respectively, drug combination rates were 36.0% and 16.1% respectively, the drug resistance rates were 31.3% and 18.9%, there were statistically significant differences in each index before and after intervention (all P<0.05). Conclusions Strengthen the pharmaceutical intervention by clinical pharmacists can not only conduce to improvement of the rational drug use rate, but also ensure the safety, effectiveness and economy of patients so that reach the triple-win of hospital, family and society, therefore it is worthy of clinical promotion.
