Abstract

Treatment of mice with isogeneic subcellular fractions depressed phagocytosis of subsequently injected Cr 51 -labeled sheep red cells and colloidal radiogold. Ribosomes were most potent in producing this effect. Lesser activity was exhibited by fractions derived from old donors as compared with those from young donors; from liver collected 6 hours after partial hepatectomy; and from transplanted isogeneic tumors. These observations were interpreted in the light of their possible relationship to cell turnover.
