Abstract

Abstract A description is provided for Phacellium vossianum , which inhabits living leaves of some Cirsium and Carduus species, causing scattered necrotic spots. Some information on its associated organisms and substrata, habitats, dispersal and transmission, and conservation status is given, along with details of its geographical distribution (Asia (Georgia, Japan, Pakistan, South Korea, Uzbekistan), Europe (Austria, Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Russia (Lipetsk oblast), Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine)). No evaluation has been made of any possible positive economic impact of this fungus and no reports of negative economic impacts have been found.
