Abstract

The authors present a stationary spacetime of Robinson-Trautman type containing a perfect fluid with vorticity and obeying the equation of state mu +3p=constant. Einstein's equations are reduced to a single fourth-order partial differential equation in two independent variables. A special case of the spacetime refers to a static sphere of perfect fluid and it is suggested that the solution may describe such a sphere disturbed in some way.
