Abstract

A study on petroporphyrins from oils and shales in the Zhanhua depression was carried out by using TLC, HPLC and MS. The carbon number distribution of porphyrins, the carbon number of main porphyrin and DPEP/ETIO values from this study demonstrate that the maturity of YI18 is the least one among oils and similars to that of shales from the first member of the Shahejie Formation. By dividing oils and shales into four groups, the HPLC confirmed the relationship of oil YI18 to its source, shales from the first member of the Shahejie Formation. Oils from the Gudao and Chengzikou uplifts mainly came from the third member of the Shahejie Formation. Oils GU15, CHENG14, YI11 and YI64 may have resulted from the influence of sedimentary environment.
