Abstract

This paper describes the basic geologic parameters which control the petrophysical parameters and show how they are related. The results presented are based on a large volume of data produced in Shell Development Company and Shell Oil Company on the origin of carbonate pore space and the relationships between petrophysical and geological parameters. A classification of carbonate porosity is proposed based on the data presented. This classification is intended to be used in the field or for routine laboratory description. 5 refs.
