Abstract

Almost all sedimentary basin types described by modern plute-teetonics have been recognized within the territory of the Former Soviet Union (FSU) and Eastern Europe, BOlS el al. (1982), Demaison and Huizinga (1991), Helwig (1985). Klemme (1980a. 1987), Kingston el al. (1983) (Figs 1&2). They can be divided into three main groups according to their origin and general geodynamic setting: 1 Intracontinental and marginal rifts and aulacogens. 2 Orogenic intermontane and foredeep basins. 3 Cratonic basins.
