Abstract
Petroleum exploration in Australia decreased to 135 wells and 750,000 feet, from 211 wells and 1,150,000 feet in 1965. In New Zealand, the decrease was from 7 wells and 25,000 feet in 1965 to 3 wells and 5686 feet in 1966. The number of test wells and the footage, however, do not reflect the marked shift of emphasis in Australia to offshore exploration, and a considerable increase in both onshore and offshore geologic and geophysical exploration in New Zealand.
