Abstract
The authors discuss the calcination of petroleum coke. The requirements imposed on different types of calcinated petroleum cokes in the USSR are summarized. The elemental content of petroleum cokes is shown. Basic factors in the calcination process are examined, such as raw material, temperature, process time, and heating rate. Different commercial units of calcination are discussed and shown. A technoeconomic analysis is offered.
