Abstract
The Tombstone stock is the largest of several small Devonian granodiorite intrusions near Nictaux, Nova Scotia. Mapping and petrological studies indicate that the present exposure of the stock is close to the original roof of the intrusion. The distance of the present exposure to the original roof is estimated to be greatest at the western end of the stock. Three small stocks to the east and the extreme eastern end of the Tombstone stock consist of a finer grained, more biotite rich granodiorite. This rock is believed to represent a roof facies of the Tombstone granodiorite. It is proposed that a much larger intrusion underlies these relatively small granodiorite stocks.
