Abstract
"PET in Eastern and Central Europe" was the title and theme of an international conference held under the auspices of the Hungarian PET Foundation in Hungary's PET Center in Debrecen between 23–25 May 1996. The conference attracted over 250 participants from sixteen countries, mainly from the Central and Eastern European region, indicating a strong interest in establishing new imaging centers in this region and introducing PET as a diagnostic and research technique in the fields of medical diagnosis as well as clinical, pharmaceutical and biomedical research.
