Abstract

The transboundary tourism is up to this day somewhat unheeded category of tourism. Particularly in the territory of the former so called iron curtain we may say that the given states are not quite able to make use of their natural but mainly cultural potential which is offered to them here. Nevertheless, after 25 years since the fall of the iron curtain, even here many things change. The euro-regions were set up, as well as numerous partnerships of cities and municipalities and in 2012 also the European region Danube-Vltava. One of the main priorities of this project within the area of tourism is the transboundary cooperation. This article is focused on the transboundary tourism in the territory of this European region and it presents the results of an empiric research, which had taken place in the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria.
