Abstract

Unemployment and lack of social welfare are economic problems that require the interaction of all people to solve them. The aspect of education which serves to prepare human resources which also plays an important role in reducing the unemployment rate and improving the welfare of the community. One way to reduce this problem is to create jobs through companies, one of which is social entrepreneurship. Islamic boarding schools as educational institutions do not provide educational material but also provide social benefits through their social entrepreneurship program. This research aims to see the application of social entrepreneurship in Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia by selecting the Pondok Pesantren Sidogiri Pasuruan, the Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor, and the Pondok Pesantren Hidayatullah Surabaya as samples with the purposive sampling method. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study research strategy. Data collection techniques used in this study were through interviews and documentation of the selected sample. The results showed that the three Islamic boarding schools that were sampled from thousands of Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia had implemented social entrepreneurship well and were superior to large social institutions in Indonesia which also implemented social entrepreneurship because they ran social enterprises that provided social values for students and society. around but also profit business and then use the proceeds to support the operational support of the boarding school.
