Abstract
In this work, for the example of calculation of the excited state B /sup 1/Pi/sub u/ of the Li/sub 2/ molecule, we formulate a systematic approach to description of the excited states of diatomic molecules based on perturbation theory with the zero-order approximation model potential and with effective correction for correlation effects as higher order perturbation effects.
